Digital Convergence Episode 2 - The PluralEyes Edition - Featuring Bruce Sharpe of Singular Software

I am really excited to present the second episode of the 16x9 Digital Convergence podcast to you. Bruce Sharpe, CEO and founder of Singular Software, was kind enough to chat with me for a while. If you haven't heard yet, Singular Software is the source of the most amazing post-production software you will likely ever use - PluralEyes. According to the Singular Software website:

PluralEyes saves hours in post-production for multi-camera edits, dual-system audio or multi-take workflows such as music videos. It automatically synchronizes all your audio and video clips without the need for timecode, clappers or any special preparation.

Boy is that the truth! A lot of software and technology come packaged with a lot of hype. PluralEyes, on the other hand, just quietly and solidly does the job. The first time you click the "Sync" button you know something special is happening.

Philip Bloom states on his blog:

This is one of the best plug ins I have ever come across. When recording sound separately like with the above zoom you have to sync up in post. This takes all the hard work out of it for you. As long as the camera has reference audio (preferably from the Rode) then this plug in will match the audio waveforms and make all the sound and video line up with no effort from you. This really is a joyous product and I cannot recommend it enough... This really is wonderful and I can’t recommend it enough. Check out my tutorial here to see just how damn easy it is. Bruce Sharpe the man behind it is also a lovely fella so it’s great to support the little indie companies like Singular Software and Glidetrack.

Philip Johnston of HDWarrior says "it's a cracking piece of software."

I have to agree with both Philips.

In this episode, Bruce talks about the origin of PluralEyes, offers some helpful tips for hybrid DSLR videographers, and reveals exciting news on how you can be the next James Cameron with a pair of hybrid DSLR cameras.

And not once did we mention the iPad :) But, I'm sure we'll have a lot to say about that soon, too.

Enjoy!

I work freelace with a London video production company, dragonfly productions.

I have to agree that it is superb software!

I have recently had experience with it, and it does save hours in post-production for multi-camera edits. We used it when producing a corporate video production recently for the video production company in london.

This just gets the job done, highly recommended!
